The biopic “Phil Spector, directed by David Mamet and starring Al Pacino and Helen Mirren, has been one of HBO’s big contenders at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards with 11 nominations. As the winners were revealed tonight in a live ceremony that aired on CBS, “Spector” failed to win in any of its nominated categories. Helen Mirren, who was nominated for her performance as Spector’s attorney Linda Kenney Baden in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie category lost to Laura Linney for “The Big C”. Al Pacino lost in the Lead Actor category to Michael Douglas’ performance in “Behind the Candelabra”, which is also helmed by HBO and won three out of its 15 nominations, including the Emmy for Outstanding Miniseries. Helen Mirren did not attend the Primetime Emmy Awards this year.
