The Genesis Prize Foundation announced yesterday that Helen Mirren will host the ceremony on June 23 in Israel, honoring Itzhak Perlman, acclaimed violinist, educator, and champion of individuals with disabilities. The Genesis Prize, a yearly $1 million award to an extraordinary individual who has achieved great professional, philanthropic, and cultural success, will be presented to Perlman by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Now in its third year, the prize, dubbed the “Jewish Nobel” has been awarded to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (2014) and Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas (2015). While winning the prize is a lofty accomplishment in itself, the fact that the proceedings will be emceed by Dame Helen Mirren can be nothing but music to Perlman’s ears. “We are honored that Dame Helen Mirren, an actress of such talent and accomplishment, will host the 2016 Genesis Prize ceremony and help us celebrate the extraordinary life and achievements of Itzhak Perlman,” said Stan Polovets, cofounder and chairman of the Genesis Prize Foundation. “Dame Mirren has been an outspoken supporter of Israel, and we look forward to the elegance and grace she will bring to the ceremony.”

Helen Mirren has attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday as a triple nominee for Best Supporting Actress and Ensemble for “Trumbo” and Lead Actress for “Woman in Gold”. The trophies went to Alicia Vikander, Spotlight and Brie Larson. Still, what a great honor for last year’s work to be mentioned three times. Helen took the stage anyway, alongside Bryan Cranston and Diane Lane, to introduce the segment for “Trumbo”. Pictures from the red carpet and the show have been added to the photo gallery, with more to come. Edit: Hundreds of additional pictures plus two video clips from the ceremony and the arrivals have been added. Scroll down for a complete list.

It seems like Helen Mirren has never been busier than this year. The last week alone has included the last part of “Trumbo”‘s promotional tour in the United States with a visit at Good Morning America and a special conversation at Times Talks. There has also been the Gothan Independent Film Award and a cocktail reception for “Woman in Gold” in New York by the Weinstein Company, who is campaigning Helen for Best Actress. All pictures can be launched by clicking the previews below.

Another decade has been added to the public appearances, covering 1980 to 1989. Lots of great images to be discovered. In the 1980s, Helen was still mostly known for her theatre work, a four-year relationship with Liam Neeson and a first try to make it in Hollywood (to lesser success than her British theatre work, except for meeting future husband Taylor Hackford). Have a look at Helen throughout the years by clicking any of the previews below. The next update will cover both the 1970s and 1960s and will complete the public appearances albums.

Today, public appearances pictures from 1990 to 1999 have been added to the photo gallery. It’ll be difficult to put this decade in only a few sentences – Helen had her breakthrough with “Prime Suspect”, for which she received 3 consecutive BAFTA Awards and an Emmy, her first Oscar nomination for “The Madness of King George”, Tony nomination for “A Month in the Country”, a Golden Globe for “Losing Chase” and another Emmy for “The Passion of Ayn Rand”. To launch all new galleries, click any of the previews below. The 1980s will follow next, as I’m eager to finish the public appearances and start with the articles and scans (the last remaining part of the photo gallery to be added). Enjoy the new pictures.

Yesterday, Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren, Diane Lane and Michael Stuhlbarg have attended the New York premiere for “Trumbo” at the MoMa. Additionally, on November 1, Helen has attended the Shakespeare Theatre Gala honoring director Julie Taymor. As quoted by The Washington Post, “Julie is a great director and a great friend. That’s why I wanted to be here,” Mirren said in a brief pre-dinner interview. “She was the first woman to direct me, and that meant very much to me.” Really? The first woman? “Well,” Mirren said, “the first woman to direct me in anything of that scope. And as a woman director, she has faced great adversity.” Pictures from both events have been added to the photo gallery.
