To complete the television section with a bang, here’s HBO’s miniseries “Elizbaeth I.” – a career highlight for Helen, which won her yet another Primetime Emmy, as well as the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award. A rare appearance comes in third today – although technically it’s not a movie spotlight but pure episodic television. In 2005, Helen was a guest-star on the NBC series “Third Watch”, playing Grace Foster’s (Cara Buono) homeless mother. To learn more about the project, visit the career page. Next up is “Door to Door” by William H. Macy and Steven Schachter, the inspiring true story of Bill Porter, in which Helen played the supporting role of Macy’s mother (for which she received Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations). She has played herself in a sketch with Lynda La Plante, a tv mom on a sitcom with an annoying laugh track and a world famous actress (who has played Cleopatra – three times!) in a sketch on an “Acting Masterclass”. This week we cover four of Helen’s television appearances, including some odd ones (the 1980s) and some very funny ones (the 1990s). Let’s start with one of Helen’s first jobs on American television – a guest stint on “The New Twilight Zone”. In the 1985 episode “Dead Woman’s Shoes”, she plays a meek thrift store worker who magically transforms when putting on shoes that belonged to a murdered woman.
