Helen Mirren performed two more plays with Manchester's Century Theatre - playing Nerissa in "The Merchant of Venice" and Kitty in "Charley's Aunt", opposite Tom Courtenay. She had a guest performance at the Sunderland Empire Theatre in "Little Malcom and his Struggle Against the Eunuchs" before her career took a big leap: In the Summer of 1967 became the youngest member of London's prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company - a place that should shape the path of her career. Her first performance with the RSC was "Coriolanus" in April 1967, followed by "All's Well That Ends Well", "Romeo and Juliet" and "The Silver Tassie". Helen also made a second film appearance (this time her uncredited part made it into the final film), in Don Levy's "Herostratus". Her "role" as an advert girl dancing with orange rubber gloves would occasionally come back to talkshows to haunt her.
