The three-hour coverage of the commemoration which took place in Flanders, Belgium saw Scottish presenter Kirsty Young hosting the events at Menin Gate in Ypres. Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge joined Prime Minister Theresa May to pay their respects to the thousands of young men who lost their lives, during one of the bloodiest battles of the First World War. The coverage featured a dedicated event to the memory of the horrific events of battle, wherein Helen Mirren narrated the timeline as well as detailing some of the men who gallantly fought in the War, along with segments of plays, to a rapt audience on the streets surrounding the Market Square.
