The best-known and most translated Hungarian writer abroad is Magda Szabó. Her works have been translated into more than 40 languages, more than Nobel Prize winner Imré Kertész or the previous leader of the list Sándor Márai. The greatest success was the novel "The Door", published in 1987. The critic of Le Figaro wrote: "A jewel of Hungarian literature, comparable only to Flaubert and Proust." The world-famous French actress Jeanne Moreau said: if a film were made from the book, she would gladly play Emerence. The novel was eventually adapted in 2012, starring Helen Mirren in the leading role. The film presents Magda Szabó's foreign fame and popularity with the help of renowned writers, translators, critics, actors and directors. Helen Mirren is featured in an archive interview from 2012 while promoting the film in Hungary.
