This week, Helen Mirren is in Jerusalem to host the Genesis Prize, known as “the Jewish Nobel”. Her arrival and various sightings have been covered, as was the press conference for the prize, which will be given this year to Itzhak Perlman. During her stay, Helen has been honored with the Jerusalem of Gold Award for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. Barkat then took her to visit the City of David, an archaeological site of ancient Jerusalem, and said Mirren “has inspired millions through her artistic craftsmanship and devotion to bettering the world.” The actress also joined British Ambassador to Israel, David Quarrey, at his residence to celebrate Shakespeare. The pair helped launch ‘Mix the Play’, which is part of a global project to mark the 400th anniversary of his death. The brainchild of the British Council in Israel, the initiative allows people to direct a scene from Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, before sharing it online. Pictures from all mentioned events have been added to the photo gallery. If you’re able to find additional press coverage, please let me know. Edit: Pictures from the Genesis prize ceremony have been added as well.

Helen Mirren stepped out in New York on Monday to attend the unveiling of Barbra Streisand’s own room at The Friars Club. The members only club was founded in 1904 and is famed for its risqué celebrity roasts. The club’s membership is composed mostly of comedians and other celebrities. Streisand and Mirren were seen with Larry King, Rosie Perez and Taylor Hackford. Pictures from the event have been added to the photo gallery.

Lots of new and additional pictures from yesterday’s premiere of “La Fille Inconnue” and today’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala by amfAR have been added to the photo gallery. Edit: A couple hundred additional pictures from the arrivals, premiere and amfAR gala have been posted. And, in case you have wondered if Helen tripped and fell while taking the steps at the premiere, Mirren told Us Weekly that she was actually preventing a potential catastrophe. “I was doing up someone’s shoelaces because the [man] was standing there with his laces undone,” she explained while at the 2016 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala on May 19. “I didn’t want him to trip.”

Earlier today, Helen Mirren has arrived at the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. According to her interview on Lorraine, she was invited by L’Oreal and will represent the brand alongside other international faces of the cosmetic giant. Of course, Helen is no stranger to the festival, having won their Best Actress prize twice, in 1984 for “Cal” and in 1994 for “The Madness of King George”. Today, she has attended the premiere of “La Fille Inconnue”. I’m sure there’s more to come these next days, so check back soon.
