A little late since “Trumbo” has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray in the USA on February 16 already, but here are screencaptures of Helen’s performance as Hedda Hopper in Jay Roach’s biopic that garnered Bryan Cranston a Best Actor Oscar nomination. Mirren’s performance was nominated for a Golden Globe, Critics Choice and Screen Actors Guild Award earlier this year, only missing the Oscar nomiation 🙁 Besides the film, screencaptures from the featurette and making of have been added as well. Many thanks to Claudia.

Yesterday, Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren, Diane Lane and Michael Stuhlbarg have attended the New York premiere for “Trumbo” at the MoMa. Additionally, on November 1, Helen has attended the Shakespeare Theatre Gala honoring director Julie Taymor. As quoted by The Washington Post, “Julie is a great director and a great friend. That’s why I wanted to be here,” Mirren said in a brief pre-dinner interview. “She was the first woman to direct me, and that meant very much to me.” Really? The first woman? “Well,” Mirren said, “the first woman to direct me in anything of that scope. And as a woman director, she has faced great adversity.” Pictures from both events have been added to the photo gallery.

There’s no resting for Helen Mirren these days. After promoting “Woman in Gold” in Tokyo, she has returned to Beverly Hills this week for the premiere of “Trumbo” as well as the 29th Annual Israel Film Festival. Mirren, speaking of her love for Israel, shared her experience working on a Kibbutz and sleeping on the beach in Eilat while visiting the country in 1967. She further noted that Israel played a significant role in her career. “My visit to Israel is part of the building blocks that have made me into the actress that I am,” she said. “I think that through all the difficulties and all the pain that Israel has suffered in the past and will in the future, the great thing that Israel has is Israelis.” Pictures from all three events have been added to the photo gallery.
